Saipan

A whole two years had passed since we'd been to the beach (unless you count Shonan beach near Yokohama, which I don't), so there was a lot of anticipation before going to Saipan for 5 days. We stayed in the Mariana Resort and enjoyed a relaxing time swimming, snorkeling, playing golf, taking spa's and eating big, hearty meals. With Aki's mum coming along, it made it a lot easier for us to take care of Joshua.

DAY 1

Joshua on an airplane for the fifth (and return, sixth) time in his life, and he's not even 18 months old.....I was 18 YEARS old before I took my first flight!!!  We got straiht into the pool after arriving. Josh loved his little boat.
Our private Jacuzzi was a nice luxury; Joshua did not go hungry - dinner at Tony Romas.

DAY 2
Breakfast with a view. Huge buffet every morning!; Some cats were very friendly to Joshua. There were also a lot of random stray dogs running around everywhere!
Day at the beach. There were so many fish swimming around Joshua's little feet, but he had no idea, too busy eating his steering wheel. He really enjoyed playing in the sand, especially when I buried his legs.

DAY 3
A short boat trip took us to Managaha Island. There was beautiful snorkelling, including a close encounter with a sea snake. The island took about 15 minutes to walk all the way around at a leisurly pace.

We had dinner and saw an Island dance performance at "The Palms". When they did a NZ Maori dance, I got up to show them how to do it properly, teaching them the word taiaha and showing them how to do a hongi!

DAY 4
Started the day with a round of short golf. Aki's mum took the honours by one stroke.....I blamed Joshua for my poor play - he was a terrible caddy, really slow to drag the clubs around, and he kept trying to move my ball!
.....and then Mr.Caddy goes and gets himself a golf cart AFTER we play! Another huge meal to finish the day.

DAY 5
After an early morning swim, Joshua and I went for a walk around the resort while Aki and her mum packed.
Bye Saipan
